Help Transform This Corner From Snow to Grow

On January 21st, GrowNYC awarded PS 372 a "Grow to Learn" Mini-Grant in the amount of $2000. The school's landlord has kindly agreed to allow us to use the fenced in rectangular area on the corner of 1st Street and Denton Place for several raised beds.

The newly formed PS 372 Garden Committee has discussed installing a water catchment system, a sensory garden, as well as herbs and vegetables including the “Three Sisters” of lima beans, corn, and squash that are traditionally grown by various Native American groups. We are looking for opportunities to integrate the garden with the science, social studies, and arts curriculum. Our rough plan: build the beds in late March; filling them with soil and start planting by mid-April.  To learn more or get involved, , where you will find notes from the 1.31 meeting as well as a committee member sign-up sheet. Volunteers are needed in various areas; most urgently we need a parent or teacher who can attend a on Saturday, Feb 15th. Attendance by a school rep will make us eligible to receive free support and services from Green Thumb. It’s all happening!  Thanks for your enthusiasm and support!
