We’re getting close to our last PTA meeting of the year, and we need parents! We have open positions on the Executive Board and on the committees that help make our school such an amazing place.
There is a role for everyone — if your work leaves you with very little spare time, consider volunteering for an event. If you’re tech savvy or like to write, our communications committee is the place for you. If you want to be more involved, consider running for an Executive Board position.
Without the support of parents, we can’t continue to provide our students with the incredible programs they enjoy today. Think of the opera program, the family events, our thriving garden…these all exist because of collaborative efforts made by parents who are squeezing in the time wherever they can. It makes such a difference!
Mark your calendar for the June 15th meeting, where we will elect members to the positions listed below.

2016-2017 Executive Board
The EB meets monthly about a week before the General PTA Meeting.
Top 3 Urgently Needed Positions for 2016-17: (These roles must be filled to have a PTA)
Co Presidents (2) – Help set annual goals for the PTA; run PTA and Executive Board meetings; oversee budget, fundraising efforts, and all committees; liaise with school staff.
Co Treasurers (1) – Help our current treasurer, Radha, keep our books. Enter finances in QuickBooks, prepare budget reports, and help the staff and PTA event coordinators access funds.
Co Secretaries (2) – Support the presidents in developing a work plan for the year. Help organize materials for meetings, circulate agendas, and take notes.
Also Available:
Co Vice Presidents (2): Support PTA presidents in all responsibilities.
New Parent Rep: Learn about the PTA EB and encourage greater involvement of new families in PTA endeavors.
Member-at-large: Learn about the PTA EB and fill in as needed.
Ex-officio: A former PTA President or other Board Officer who will serve an advisory role within the PTA Executive Board.
Teacher Representative: Act as a liaison between the PTA and staff.

Standing Committee in need of chairpersons:
Pizza Friday (2): Coordinate the fundraising effort of providing pizza to the kids each Friday.
Class Parent Liaisons (2): Recruit and help coordinate the efforts of class parents in each grade.
Communications (2): Work with the PTA Leadership as well as administration and Parent Coordinator to inform our community of happenings at school. Best suited to individuals with strong writing skills and some knowledge of social media tools.
Community Building (2): A team which will help welcome new and existing families at school. Help with the New Family picnic, welcome everyone back to school on the first day with Bagels and Coffee and lots of good cheer and help with Ms. Cathy’s Second Cup of Coffee meet-ups for families to share information.
Grant (1): Identify grant opportunities and write grant proposals.
Green (1): Help maintain the wonderful inclusions garden and promote green initiatives.
Financial Audit & Fundraising (1): Work with the Treasurers and Presidents to review financials on a regular basis throughout the year. Keep track of fundraising efforts throughout the year.
Arts & Science Day (2): Event will be held in the spring.
Book Fair (2): Event will be held in the fall.
Carnival (1):Event will be held in June.
Roots & Community (1): Event will be held in the fall
Spring Auction (2): Event will be held in the spring
Staff Appreciation Day (1): Event will be held in June.
Valentine’s Day Dance (1): Event will be held in February.
