3rd Annual CAPP Safe Kids 5k- April 28, 2012

On Saturday, April 28, 2012, hundreds of New Yorkers will gather in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park to show their support for child abuse prevention in New York City – if anyone is interested in putting a team together from The Children’s School please email me!

Here is some info from the organizers:

The 3rd Annual CAPP Safe Kids 5k, presented by Allianz Global & Corporate Specialty will begin at 10:00AM in Bartel-Pritchard Square, Prospect Park and is expected to draw 400-500 participants and spectators for a festive event complete with Kids Fun Run, live music, refreshments and other activities.

As a local New York City School, we invite you to get involved! Here’s how your school and the students can help:

· Start a school team and ask students & parents to participate in the 5k
· Fundraise Online: Direct contacts to your school’s team page on the race website – the school that raises the most wins a pizza party!
· Fundraise Offline: Ask for donations using the enclosed fundraising tips and keep track on the attached form
· Donate & Spread the word by emailing your friends, posting a Facebook message or sending a Tweet about the race!

Your support will directly benefit child abuse prevention in New York City. Since CAPP’s inception in 1986, more than 400,000 New York City school children have participated in our Child Safety Workshop. This effective program uses life-size puppets to teach children the skills needed to recognize, resist and report instances of abuse and neglect. For children that are experiencing abuse, the Child Safety Workshop can be the first step in getting help; and for thousands of others, it ensures understanding of their right to be safe, their right to speak up and their right to a childhood that is free from abuse.
