The One School, One Book project is a PTA funded school-wide initiative that brings a shared monthly read-a-loud picture book into every classroom at The Children’s School. One School, One Book selects books that center on the lives and experiences of people of color, immigrants and refugees, people with disabilities, and people of LBGTQ and gender nonconforming experience. We seek to celebrate the ethnic, cultural, and religious traditions that are historically excluded from traditional curricula, so that all children see themselves reflected in the pages of classroom texts. These are the titles that will be read from the months of December through March:

December
Benji, The Bad Day, And Me by Sally J. Pla

January
Every Month Is A New Year: Celebrations Around The World by Marilyn Singer

February
I, Too, Am America by Langston Hughes

March
(ICT Site Grades 1-5 and 6:1:1 Site Middle School)
In Her Hands: The Story Of Sculptor Augusta Savage by Alan Schroeder

(ICT Site PreK & K and 6:1:1 Elementary School)
