Our first, second and third graders were treated to an engaging presentation by the author of the Bad Kitty series, Nick Bruel. The author spoke with the children about his process for writing books and then as a group, the children developed their own story about an elephant on a very long minivan trip. The kids learned how to draw Bad Kitty and how one simple stroke of a marker can change the feeling of an illustration from excited to angry to adorable. At the end, there was time for Q & A.
