This is is a public/private partnership between the Mayor’s Fund and agencies such as NYC Parks + Recreation’s GreenThumb.

(http://www.growtolearn.org/view/GreenThumb), and the DOE SchoolFood (http://www.schoolfoodnyc.org/public1/default.aspx?logout=1)

divisions. With a mission to create school gardens in every NYC school, the program helps would-be gardeners get a project growing by providing support, resources and guidance.

One of the many cool things about Grow to Learn: the program is institutionalized, it’s designed to help schools plug into an already-established system and get started. We just need to prove that we’re serious about making some kind of garden—small, vertical, hydroponic, herb? We’ll decide what works– happen here. They’ll help us investigate and realize the best options for us.
Thank you.

Are you willing to help us get this grant? We need to form a committee of staffers (including an assistant principal) and parents ASAP in order to register and apply by Friday November 1st. If you want your name on the list of community members who will figure out this garden puzzle, send your name, contact information, school position and/or name of your child(ren) to Denise Maher, mom to Benjamin, 1-2 at deniseedits@gmail.com by 9am on October 31st.
