  • Only bus arrivals permitted at 1st St. doors, walkers please enter via Whitwell gate

    • Laptops available around the school during Parent conferences

Auction/Gala – Jessica & Merideth

  • April 5th at Littlefields
  • Early Bird tickets available now for $50
  • Open Bar scheduled for first hour of event
  • 185 online auction items
  • Bidding opens one week ahead

State Testing – Barbara

  • April 23 – ELA tests
  • May 1-2 for Math tests
  • Opt-out numbers
    • 2016 – 57 students opted out
    • 2017 – 75 students opted out
    • 2018 – 68 students opted out
  • Students who opt out have alternate curriculum for the day
    • 3rd Grade working in Upper Science
    • 4th & 5th Grades work on project with Mr. Doug in cafeteria
  • Test security followed for students
  • 75% of questions are released after test each year
  • First day all multiple choice, 2nd day short & long answer questions
  • Teachers are exposing students to sample test questions in class
  • Accommodations:
    • Breaks, refocus prompts, test reader, circle in book instead of bubbling, uses computer for test, etc.
  • Mindfulness training to help reduce/address test anxiety
    • 3rd Grade – 3 sessions
    • 4th & 5th Grades – 1 review session
  • NYC opt out – Facebook group
  • Fourth Grade Science Test
    • 2 days – beginning of June
    • First day – experiments
    • 2nd day – multiple choice & short answer questions

Readathon Results – Jessica & Merideth

  • Reached our fundraising goals – Thanks everyone
  • Highest participation classroom/grade helps librarian pick books
  • Two classes had 100% participation – 2-1 and 5-2
  • Students who reached Milestone Minutes are entered in drawings for prizes

Garden – Lindsay

  • Planting seeds soon in Science classes
  • Kids are involved in whole process – from seed to harvest
  • Integrated into Science curriculum

Treasurer Report – Shashin

  • Annual Appeal – we’ve reached 91% of our goal
    • Received several corporate matches
  • Gear Sales – exceeded goal of $3,000 by 300%
  • Pizza Friday – approaching goal
    • 86% of funds have been raised, but not expecting much more
  • Readathon – 100% of goal
  • Auction/Gala is coming up – hope to reach fundraising goal

Boxtops – Katy

  • Participation was 3 times larger than previously
  • Have raised over $175 so far

Author Visits – Jessica

  • Vera Brosgol – April 9th
  • Pre-K, K, 1-2 & 1-3 attending – (1-1 has conflict with their opera performance)
