We are delighted to announce that coming up this fall we will be offering after school band for our fourth and fifth graders! We will be providing instruction through our partnership with the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music.
Students will have the opportunity to study flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone and percussion for 24 weeks, on Tuesdays after school beginning in October. The program is a year-long commitment, and will end in late May/early June.
Students participate in group instruction, taught by the excellent professional musicians and educators from the Conservatory’s Music Partners Program. In the Fall, we will have a demonstration for all 4th and 5th-grade students of the instruments to select from.
We start off the program with a Parent Night, to talk with families about program goals and expectations and how to set up a good practice routine. We will end the year with a wonderful concert to showcase everything the students have learned.
If you would like to apply to the band program, please fill out the form below. Every effort will be made to give each student his or her first choice but since this is not always possible we ask that you give careful thought to your second choice.
The cost of the program is $270 for the 24 weeks, plus the cost of renting the instrument (approx $140 per year), unless you own your own. Children will keep instruments at home and bring them to school on Tuesdays for band instruction.
The $30 Afterschool Annual Registration fee is also required. Tuition assistance is available if the cost is a hardship for your family — please contact Janine.
