New Drinking Water Policy At R&C Night Kicks Off Green Initiative

The Bottled Water Ban Is Here

The Green Team is kicking off the PTA’s bottled water ban at Saturday’s Roots & Community Extravaganza! No bottled water will be sold.

Instead, we will offer cool & refreshing Brooklyn tap water via Igloo cooler dispensers. There is no charge for water from the coolers or the fountains; however the reusable, branded PS 372 cups shown here will be available for a fee: $2. each or 3 for $5. (We invite families to bring their own reusable cup/or water bottle).

This is part of an initiative to reduce waste, recycle and reuse materials while we minimize the PTA’s carbon footprint and allign with the DOE’s Sustainability Initiative. Look for recycling and organics collection bins at the event, as well as an information table from the Department of Sanitation. Students and families will have opportunities to join the Green Team and help our after and outside school events get more eco-friendly.

In conjunction with the Wrigley’s  Litter Less Grant program, students at Roots & Community will have an opportunity to learn about water pollution issues around the globe and earn prizes to help collect plastics, paper, aluminum and other recyclables at the event. Questions? Email green@ps372pta.org .

Thank you for helping us kick off this exciting initiative!  We appreciate your patience and understanding as we take some small steps to make a big difference in our children’s future planet.
