The Department of Education’s Chancellor Richard Carranza recently toured The Children’s School to discuss our amazing ICT classrooms, and took part in a discussion with our reading specialist. Assembly member Robert Carroll attended and talked about his petition calling for universal screening of dyslexia and curriculum changes so all of our schools can incorporate some of the best practices that are being utilized at schools like The Children’s School. Assembly member Jo Anne Simon also supports legislation to address dyslexia in early childhood. (October is dyslexia awareness month.)
Students were excited to greet our guests. Principal Rosa and Assistant Principals Ms. Bridget and Ms. Rosa proudly showed the Chancellor around, highlighting the teachers’ and students’ work. The Chancellor was interested in figuring out how the DOE could replicate the school’s Inclusion model.
