On Thursday, May 12, a contingent of 26 staff, parents, and students from the Children’s School joined 20,000 New Yorkers on Wall Street to say NO! to Mayor Bloomberg’s agenda of tax breaks for millionaires and big banks at the expense of our city’s public services. The outcry against the mayor’s proposal to lay off nearly 5,000 teachers was central to the day’s demands.
The City budget is due July 1–there will be plenty more opportunities to speak up for justice in New York between now and then.
In the meantime, be sure to visit http://pubadvocate.nyc.gov/saveourteachers , and come to the PTA on Monday evening May 23 to dialogue with Bill de Blasio about the movement to save our teachers.
