PTA Welcome Letter

Dear New and Returning Families:

Welcome (back) to the Children’s School! On behalf of the PTA, we’d like to extend a warm welcome to all students and their families and provide you with information on some upcoming school events and opportunities. Participating in these activities is a great way to get to know the teachers, staff, and fellow parents/caregivers who form such a wonderful and caring community around our children.

Please regularly check the PS 372 website (http://ps372.org) for official school information. For PTA news and related information, see Inclusions (http://inclusions.org). We’re always looking for Inclusions content (articles, tidbits etc), so please email ideas/suggestions to inclusions@ps372pta.org.

SCHOOL EVENTS/OPPORTUNITIES:

PTA Meetings: Please come to our monthly PTA meetings to catch up on important news around school, as well as participate in open discussions and vote on agenda items. We will have a meet-and-greet at our first meeting on Thursday, September 20th at 6:00pm in the cafeteria. Childcare will be provided and pizza will be served, so please join us!  FALL MEETING SCHEDULE: 9/20 @ 6pm; 10/18 @ 8:30am; 11/9 @ 8:30am (this meeting will include a guest speaker, Rachel Malinowitzer, M.Ed. on the topic of anger and anxiety).

Family Fridays: On the first Friday of every month, parents/caregivers may visit the classrooms from 8:20-9:00am to do activities (reading, math or specials) with the children.

Class Parents: Each class needs at least 2-3 parent volunteers to help out as needed in the classrooms and with other classroom-related PTA items during the year. Sign up online at http://inclusions.org or email Class Parent Liaisons, Rachel Aylward & Marianne Macias Itak at classparentliaison@ps372pta.org.

Mini Max Fundraiser: EVERY DAY through September 30th, 15% of every purchase from a PS 372 family, friend or teacher will go directly back to the school. This includes any purchase from toys, clothes and even haircuts. No flyer is required; just mention your school! This program can be used for online shopping on their website (www.minimaxnyc.com) by selecting a school at checkout. Mini Max Toys and Cuts

Lice Checks: The PTA conducts several school-wide lice checks during the year to help prevent widespread infestation. Please look for the forthcoming sign-up form.

There will also be many more exciting events throughout the year, so stay tuned for further opportunities to get involved. Please feel free to contact us with questions and/or suggestions, or just stop by to say hello (we’re in the Family Center, across from the school secretaries’ office).

With sincere best wishes for a great year,
