This is the second year of this program. We see it as a way to give back to the community and teach children the value of giving and receiving and about the fact that our school and larger community has children and families in diverse socio-economic circumstances.

PLEASE NOTE: Classes 1-2, 3-3, and 5-1 will be participating in the Good Shephard Family Sponsorship Drive towards this goal. This is NOT being handled through this sign up, but is part of this program. This will be done through individual teachers/classrooms.

So, for everyone else, here is the round-up –

Pre-K, Kindergarten, 2nd, and 4th Grade: will be sponsoring families within the PS 372 Community this year.

Classes 1-1 & 1-3 and 3-1 & 3-2: will be in charge of getting gift cards which will be used to fill in any gaps in Family Sponsorship and also if we identify other families in need in the community who we would like to help, but are shy about it.

Classes 5-2 & 5-3: will be getting gifts for children at the ASD site, many of whom are in families struggling with managing special needs children and finances.

We are also very proud to announce that if we receive more gift card donations than needed, we will purchase toys to give to an organization called Hour Children, which is devoted to helping incarcerated women and their children. This is the same group we helped last year and it was a great success for them (and us)

FAMILIES:

Ms. Rosa and Ms. Cathy identified four families who are particularly in need at our school and found out what their needs are. Please contribute a NEW unwrapped item to a sponsored family by choosing one of the wish list items. This list may include toys, clothes or household items.

Each grade is assigned a family as follows:

Pre-Kindergarten – Family #1: 9 year old girl who has been displaced from her family and is living with relatives who are struggling.
Kindergarten – Family #2: 3 children and a mother and father who are really struggling financially.
2nd Grade – Family #3: 2 children and a mother and father who are really struggling financially.
4th Grade – Family #4: Family in need with 2 children.

Thanks so much for Participating!!!

Sincerely,

The Holiday Drive Committee
