Children and parents shopped at both the ICT and ASD site book fairs last week.

Our avid readers bought hot new titles like the latest Diary of a Wimpy Kid, science titles like Sink Your Teeth Into Sharks, and picture book classics like Strega Nona. First and second graders were treated to a presentation by picture book author and illustrator, Selina Alko. That visit was arranged by our multimedia teachers, Ms. Grace and Ms. Aida. Selina’s books include B Is For Brooklyn and A Case For Loving.

While the primary goal of the book fair is to promote literacy (and there is nothing so satisfying as seeing how excited our children get about books), the event grossed over $8000 — raising a little over $2000 for our school!

A big thank you to all of the parent volunteers who helped with setup, shopping and clean up. We couldn’t have gotten the job done without the help of Ms. Cathy, Ms. Rosa, Ms. Yvette, Janine, Tony and Mr. Michael. It was a great team effort.
