Gardening After School

I want to let you all know about a new afterschool program that I will be starting this fall out of the Old Stone House, in Park Slope (5th Ave, between 3rd and 4th Streets). Like the summer program I told many of you about, the focus of this program will also be gardening. We will have an indoor gathering space inside the Old Stone House, and we will use and care for the vegetable, herb, and ornamental gardens surrounding the house. Children will be engaged in caring for the gardens, harvesting and using herbs, cooking, and making crafts. They will also learn some basics in botany and plant science, and we will play lots of games.

I know many of you are at schools that already have gardens and gardening programs, and so might know some children who would be interested in participating in this program after school. Please pass this information on to parents and children who you think might be interested. All the information is in the attached brochure. Also, feel free to contact me, or the number on the brochure, with questions.

I would be happy to come to a parent meeting at your school to talk about this program, if any of you thinks this would be appropriate. Unfortunately, it would have to be very soon since the program starts on Sept. 22!

Thank you for your time and support.
