If you don’t see something that works for your child, let me know! I add classes and change times to accommodate schedules and put together ensembles of young actors. Once I get a sense of what works for a group of students I may shift a start time. My classes are small, by design, to give the kids lots of opportunities to be onstage.

Mondays, 4:15-5:45 p.m.
Improv/Imagination
(Grades 3-5) This class builds ensemble through games and improvisations, culminating in prepared presentations that are created collaboratively. Last semester, The Woman Who Tricked Death was a runaway hit!

Mondays, 5:45-7:15 p.m.
The Play?s The Thing
(Grades 6-8)
Actors do scenes, improvised and scripted, and fun games and exercises, building ensemble skills. Eventually, they begin work on a play. Past presentations included excerpts from A Midsummer Night?s Dream and Peter Pan.

Tuesdays, 6:00-7:30 p.m.
Scene Study
(High School)
Through monologue and scene work, actors become acquainted with the actor?s toolbox. The range of playwrights is eclectic: Oscar Wilde, Shakespeare, Neil Simon, Tracy Letts, William Inge and others are explored.

Tuesdays, 6:00-7:30 p.m.
High School Audition!
(mostly 8th grade)
This class focuses on preparing your child for the rigorous audition process of the specialized performing arts high schools. Actors are given monologues that are appropriate to them and coached thoroughly. Young Actors Workshop has had much success in helping students gain admission to excellent schools. On camera work will also be incorporated. GUEST TEACHER GLORIA BIEGLER

Thursdays, 4:30-6:00 p.m.
Comedy!
(Grades 6-8)
Does your child love to watch great comedians from Charlie Chaplin to Will Farrell? Explore creation of character and comedy sketch writing. Use improv and physical exercises to script and stage sketches. GUEST TEACHER CYNTHIA BABAK

Fridays, 5:00-6:30 p.m.
Musical Theater Workshop
(Grades 5-Up)
Explore songs and scenes from great musicals. GUEST TEACHER CHRISTINE SIRACUSA
